Blake Stage Lobby Posters
You’ve asked for them and here they are. Beautiful 20×30″ and 24×36″ fine art prints are ready for your family room, basement rec room, media room or dorm room.
Both sizes are available either rolled, mounted to foam board and ready to frame, or framed and ready to hang. You saw the framed 24×36 size if you were at either of the past two Stage Company banquets. Several 24×36″ prints are in the theatre lobby.
Shows available right now are Bye Bye Birdie, The Drowsy Chaperone, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Odyssey of Jeremy Jack, A Day at the Zoo, Crazy for You, Hamlet and The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. Large previews of the posters are available here.
Prints are available unmounted, dry mounted or framed for your convenience.
Framed prints are available with two styles of frames depending on the size print ordered. 20×30″ prints come in a narrow gloss black frame perfect for the smaller print. 24×36″ prints arrive in a wider black frame with a slight wood-grain texture to compliment the larger print. The lighter-weight 20×30″ frame has a factory attached toothed tab for single-point hanging. I attach a wire to the heavier 34×36″ frame for more secure 2-hook hanging. I deliver framed prints personally in the local Blake area and shipping is not available.
Both styles use light-weight weight Lexan instead of non-glare glass to minimize the weight and cost of these off-the-shelf poster frames. Lexan, like clear glass, can reflect room lighting (glare) depending on the location of print and light sources. Removing the Lexan and having the surface of the print directly exposed can minimize this glare, while still giving the print a finished look. Let me know if you would like it framed without the Lexan. Lexan also scratches rather easily, which may also be a concern.
Dry mounted prints will arrive by mail flat, already mounted to 3/16″ foam core board to prevent sagging and wrinkling over the years.
Many poster frames won’t accommodate both their original backing board and the foam core, so you may need to discard the factory back and mount the foam core in its place. Make sure to buy a frame thick enough to allow hanging hardware to be screwed into the frame material if you chose to discard the factory back that normally has hanging brackets attached.
Unmounted prints will arrive by mail loosely rolled in a heavy tube. They are printed on the thickest stock available to resist wrinkling in the frame, but prints of this size are still likely to succumb to gravity over time and develop some waviness. I recommend that you, at a minimum, mount the top of the print to foam board, thinner matte board or some other support before putting it into a frame.
You may want to mount your print to thin matte board, available locally at Plaza Art in Gaithersburg, if you plan to put it into a thin poster frame. Ask them about the best way to secure the top of the print to the board.
Consider a custom frame with non-glare glass for optimal beauty and durability. A mounted print will be best in this case unless your framer prefers to mount a rolled print. The frames I offer are meant for posters and are not the quality you’ll get if you invest hundreds of dollars in a custom creation. Watch the craft store sales if you’re the Do It Yourself type and you’ll find a poster frame for less than what I charge.
Prints start at $45 for an unmounted 20×30″ and go to only $149 for a framed 24×36″.
No matter which size best fits your space or which mounting option you choose, you’ll own beautiful, unique art that will start conversations, bring on laughter and be part of your family lore for many years to come.
Thank you for considering one or more of my theatre lobby prints for your home or as a gift!
